Dr. Donald Pirodsky is a respected psychiatrist with more than 30 years of experience in the field. Dr. Pirodsky started his private practice in Fayetteville and Syracuse, New York, in 1976 and practiced there until 2006. Dr. Donald Pirodsky has several fields of interest and expertise, including outpatient psychiatric treatment of anxiety disorders and depression, clinical psychopharmacology, and psychiatric treatment of individuals with hearing impairment.
In addition to attending to patients at his psychiatric practice, Dr. Donald Pirodsky served as an Assistant Professor at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Syracuse Department of Psychiatry between 1978 and 1985. He continued to teach at the University as a Clinical Associate Professor until 2006. He lectured and taught courses on a wide array of topics, such as the use of psychotropic drugs on older adults and people with schizophrenia. Prior to his time with SUNY at Syracuse (currently known as SUNY Upstate Medical University), Dr. Donald Pirodsky presented a series of lectures at The University of Arizona College of Nursing.
Dr. Donald Pirodsky attended the Virginia Military Institute for the first two years of his college education. He then transferred to Hofstra University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966. Dr. Donald Pirodsky went on to pursue his M.D., which he completed in 1970 at SUNY at Syracuse. Dr. Pirodsky’s diverse range of internships and residencies took place in Chicago, upstate New York, and Tucson, Arizona. As part of his military service, Dr. Donald Pirodsky also served as a Senior Assistant Surgeon at Saint Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, D.C. from 1971 to 1972 and as a Surgeon at the same hospital the following year.
As a dedicated educator and professional, Dr. Donald Pirodsky actively participated in several university and professional committees during his career. At SUNY, he was involved with the resident and internship evaluation committee, as well as the research, outpatient, and program committees. He also served on the residency curriculum committee at the University Medical Center in Arizona.
Dr. Donald Pirodsky currently resides in Sarasota, Florida.
